IndyFringe 16. Yee-Ha! Spaghetti Western in 3-D, Ya'll!

We drove our doggies into Javlina, Texas, Friday night, to catch some feudin', cowboy rasslin', and gun slingin' in Spaghetti Western 3-D produced by In the Mix productions from Evansville, IN.

Yee-ha was it a romping good time watching these four purty fillies strum, sing, shoot, and serenade a positively charmed audience. With original stories and skits about the great American West, they offered laughs with some sprinklings of  modern satire, poking fun at post RFRA Indiana and the pratfalls of an overly PC society. "Lesbians were invented in 1852," they  proclaimed when some slimy suitors tried to steal a well from a grieving widow. Rounding out the laughter was an uplifting soundtrack, and the audience found it impossible not sing along.  From their seamless pacing to their enchanting harmonizing to their own musical accompaniment, this cowgirl gang is sure lasso your heart.

The cowgirls get the crowd ready for a rowdy good time

In the audience was Linda Daley a 35-year resident of Indianapolis, originally from Massachusetts. Daley is a long-time supporter of IndyFringe, typically seeing fifteen shows per festival! "We chose this show because it just looked fun!" Daley offered, "and we were not disappointed. This was a fun, talented group." In addition to attending IndyFringe festival every year, Daley loves to support our hometown WNBA champion team The Indiana Fever and also volunteers at the zoo. Now this is what we call a fine citizen! Thanks, Linda!

Daley rides off into the sunset with her new posse.

The talented group of actors includes Samie Jo Johnson, Brogan Lozano, Grace Theobold, and Shay Guthrie. (Three attend University of Evansville and one hails from Rutger University. "I cast them as actors and was thrilled to discover during rehearsal that they are also singers and musicians," offered playwright Mark Rigby.  "My team and I crafted Spaghetti Western 3D to be a rowdy, gag-filled Fringe adventure, and we're hoping audiences will exit laughing--or maybe singing. Yes, our western is a musical, and with an all female cast!"

A playwright and a novelist, Rigby has just learned that his  IndyFringe 2015 offering , "The Shout," will be published by Playscripts, Inc this fall. "I'm hoping that "Spaghetti Western 3D" follows in its footsteps! If so, I'll have IndyFringe to thank. Fringe festivals allow playwrights to self-produce, and that's a wonderful option that large regional theaters often can't provide."

About Indianapolis, Rigby had these lovely thoughts: Indy is a terrific, vibrant city. It's what Evansville wants to be! And Fringe here offers some very strong work.

We thank you for bringing your work to IndyFringe, Mark!

This show is more exciting than riding the mechanical bull at Gilleys!

Giddyup to the  Spaghetti Western 3D as it continues its run at the IndyEleven Theater in the IndyFringe building  at 719 E. St. Clair Street.
